HOMEOPATHY

The idea of the Vital Force is fundamental to Homeopathy. In Homeopathy, the Vital Force is an invisible, immaterial, dynamic, spirit-like force that governs the health of the individual. Disease is an energetic imbalance of this immaterial, dynamic Vital Force, and can only be be healed through medicines and treatments that are energetically based. Homeopathic remedies are potentized medicines which no longer contain any measurable amount of the original substance - they retain an energetic imprint of the original substance, and have the ability to re-tune this imbalanced Vital Force in order to achieve true health by healing the mind, spirit and body, stimulating the body’s own innate ability to heal itself, and align people with their true purpose in life.

Homeopathy can treat any condition - acute or chronic - whether it is an imbalance of the mind, body or spirit, since it focuses on stimulating the body’s Vital Force to restore balance, rather than targeting a specific pathogen, lesion or any physical manifestation. Physical symptoms are merely clues to the real energetic imbalance. Similarly, since Homeopathic remedies can be created from any source - whether it be plant, mineral, animal, biological, or any other - it captures the invisible healing energy from any part of the universe. Homeopathy is the only healing modality in the world that allows the energy of any part of the universe to provide the necessary healing. When you take a Homeopathic remedy, you are taking the energy of the specific part of the universe you need to heal.

Homeopathy works on a system of ‘like cures like’, which means a potentized substance that can cause a disease in a healthy person can cure the disease in a sick person. This leads us to the clever science of Homeopathy. To find what symptoms a remedy can heal, instead of giving the remedy to sick people, Homeopaths do just the opposite, in a controlled setting, they give a remedy to a healthy person and catalog their symptoms. This creates the foundation for the symptoms they later look for in a sick person. Like cures like. It’s an energetic reverse engineering. These investigations are called Provings, and are done for almost all remedies. 

To make Provings more readable, the symptoms from the Proving for each remedy are then meticulously categorized by mind, emotion or particular area of the body and organized into Materia Medicas, which are like chapters in a book. There are many Materia Medicas, and each Homeopathic author adds their own experiences, observations, and what they’ve seen healed for each remedy. With more than 10,000 remedies, it would be very difficult to assimilate all that information and be able to find the correct remedy, so the Materia Medicas are then further broken down into Repertories, which meticulously catalog every single symptom, and place them in their respective category of mind, emotion or physical area of the body. 

Over the past two centuries or so, a great library of Provings, Materia Medicas, and Repertories have been amassed, including the observations, cured cases and unique genius of each Homeopathic author to further elucidate the picture of any particular remedy. To find the correct remedy, the Homeopath does not just try to match single symptoms, but looks at the totality of the symptoms of the patient and compares that against the total picture of the remedy. 

But Homeopathy doesn’t stop there. There have been recent advances in Homeopathy that go beyond just matching a list of patient’s symptoms to the Provings, Materia Medicas and Repertories and even the totality of the symptoms. Newer methods include a system of Sensations, which have found that remedies organized in groups based on the original substance share certain characteristics and symptoms, which can be matched to the patient. Another modern advance in Homeopathy is the use of Kingdoms of the original substance, where certain traits and patterns have been mapped for Plants, Minerals, Animals, Imponderables, or other Kingdoms, which align with the patient’s life story. Taken together, all these Kingdoms provide a fascinating and profound map of the universe. 

But no matter what method is used, traditional or modern (and also with the creation of Provings, Materia Medicas and Repertories) - it always starts with a careful and comprehensive listening to the patient. All of this makes for a very human approach where the Homeopath intently listens to the patient who is encouraged through probing questions to explore details of their symptoms, concerns or any other issues they find important, and record this in the patient’s own words, which often encode clues to their own healing and which is often enlightening in itself.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING A HOMEOPATHIC CONSULTATION?

In a Homeopathic consultation, we sit down and discuss your symptoms, concerns and anything that you find important. I listen carefully and take detailed notes, and ask questions to clarify. I will usually take a few days to find the correct remedy. The remedy will generally be in the form of little homeopathically medicated pellets. Usually you only need one dose, and we wait and see how you react. Sometimes the remedy may need to be repeated, perhaps once a week or whatever is needed. I generally only prescribe one remedy at a time. I will follow up within the first week just to check in and see how you’re doing and whether I have any adjustments to the remedy schedule, or if I have any other recommendations, such as other treatment modalities. Then we will follow up in 4-5 weeks.
